As everyone knows, America is an immigration country. Immigration is not just to bring people here; it also brings different people, different food and different cultures. Immigration still plays an essential role in modern America.
Goal: using different media to represent the concept.
Design Process: in the beginning of the class, Professor Merrick gave us a list of argument topics, such as sustainability, immigration, gun control and so on. I chose immigration as my topic because I am very interested in this topic as an international student. Through the topic of investigation, I applied theories semiotics and explored meaning making to create a campaign in favor of one side of my topic. I started to ask myself some questions, like: what is the history of the topic, what is the essence of both sides of the argument and who are key personalities, movements, styles and trends associated with the topic?
Research: Some people do not agree with immigration because they feel that everything in America is unique and perfect. However, the truth is the opposite. I collected 7 objects that are among the most common products that people believe are made in America. My goal in this project was to use different media to combine experience and print media in the hope of giving audiences a different feeling and a real experience to influence their understanding on the displayed topic.
